Hit & Fetch for Theo is a mixed slo-pitch tournament, 6 men – 4 women on the field at all times. Please contact us for any additional information with registration.

Rules:

Hit & Fetch for Theo is a mixed slo-pitch tournament, 6 men – 4 women on the field at all times. The minimum age for players is 16. The minimum age to enter the Beer Garden is 19. All teams must agree to the Covid-19 waivers and policies/ procedures including, but not limited to: 

  • Bring and use your own antibacterial hand sanitizer.

  • If you feel sick after arriving, please remove yourself from the game and review the Covid Screening Tool..

  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

  • Game day wellness checks “COVID Screening Tool ” must be completed at home by all players prior to participation and will be screened upon entry to the park.

  • There will be no physical touching such as handshaking, high fives, fist/elbow bumps or huddles.

  • Only registered players are allowed on or near the player’s bench. Family members and coaches need to stay on the spectators side and maintain 6 feet of distance. 

  • Batting - NSA approved Composite bats - (no hot bats etc) 

  • NO BUNTING 

  • Match +2 Home Run rule. 

  • No new inning after 65 mins. 

  • Double knockout format.

  • Flip for home team

Game Rules

 

1. All teams shall play six (6) males and four (4) females in the field.

 

2. a ) A team will be allowed to start a game with nine (9) players from the official start time of the game.

b ) The same team is allowed to add a tenth player to the batting order before the end of the first inning.

c ) An automatic out will be recorded where the last player in the batting line up would have batted.

 

3. If a player is injured during play, they can be substituted for another player ie: male for male or female for female 

 

4. NO BUNTING 

 

5. There is a maximum of five (5) runs per team per inning, with the last inning being open.

 

6. Any walk issued with no strikes to a male with a female as the next batter, the male is awarded 2nd & female must bat. 

 

7. Batting Order

a) Teams may bat up to 12 players. If the additional player rule is used, eg) batting more than ten, players MUST be added in groups of two, one each male/female or female/male 

b) No more that two (2) male batters in a row {including wrap around eg) bottom order to top}.

 

8. If a team should bat more than two (2) male batters in a row, and:

a) The defensive team makes the Umpire aware of this prior to a pitch being made to a subsequent batter, then the offending player is called out and the offensive team shall be allowed to adjust their batting order to reflect the league rule.

b) However, if the defensive team fails to notice the infraction on the first occurrence, and bring it to the attention of the Umpire, the batting order shall remain as is for the remainder of the game, regardless of rule contravention.

 

9. Modified Substitution Rule

a) The NSA substitution rule will apply, with the exception of a substitute being allowed to re-enter the game in the event of an injury to a starting player.

 

10. Home Run Rule-Match plus 2 rule will be in effect.

If one team hits 2 out of the park home runs they cannot hit another home run until the opposing team hits at least 1 home run.  After which both teams are permitted to hit 1 more home run.  This can continue throughout the entire game.

No team can be up more than 2 home runs at any time.

If the team that is up by 2 home runs hits an additional home run before the opposing team hits a home run it will be considered an out.

A batter hitting a ball over the fence in a game in excess of the limit shall be ruled out.

Any ball touched by a defensive player which then goes over the fence in fair territory shall be a four base award and not considered a home run (as it pertains to the home run rule).

 

If a batter is ruled out because of the excessive home run rule, the ball is dead, no runs may score and all runners must return to the base occupied at the time of the pitch.

In the park home runs are unlimited.

 

11. Bat Rule - Composite NSA approved

13. Third strike/foul is an out.

 

14. Mercy rule: If a team is up 10 runs by the bottom of the 5th inning, the game will be over.

 

15. Pitching Arch is 6-12 feet

Registration & Cancellation Policy:

You can pay online for your team registration. Please note your registration is not secure until we receive payment in full. If you need to cancel, a $100 cancellation fee applies to any cancellations before October 15, 2020. After October 15th registration fees are non-refundable.

There is a $20 charge for team name change.

 

Remember:

Your Team is NOT on the schedule until your entry is paid in full. We will hold your registration for 72 hours until payment is received, after which your entry will be automatically deleted. Please contact us if you have any questions on registration.

Make sure to review your registration form to ensure it is properly filled out and make sure all your info is correct. Hit & Fetch for Theo is a First-come, First-serve basis. Teams will be registered and scheduled immediately through our online program.

Theo's Story:

 

On July 27th Theo, a loving German Shephard/ Mastiff, fought for his life in the intensive care unit.

The day prior, Theo was not feeling well. The doggy daycare found what appeared to be vomit in his kennel containing blood. Then again outside containing blood and fur also noticed he has diarrhea. They left him alone in his kennel knowing he was vomiting blood from 8 o'clock PM until the following morning. So Theodore was essentially bleeding internally for over 24 hours before contact was made with me via text message.

Theo has undergone now two blood transfusions, countless blood tests, multiple x-rays an ultrasound and has been placed on multiple medications and special dietary food. His blood levels were so low that the vet who saw him first didn’t know if he was going to make it through the night. Theo has been in and out of hospital since being home on the 4th for further testing and being unable to keep his medications down. 

 

I have now incurred over 15 thousand dollars in Veterinary bills and expenses. I have had to take time off work and travel back and forth from Kelowna to Vancouver for Theo to be in ICU and see specialists. Tournament funds will help cover the Veterinary bills and expenses.
